Does sitting down to happy meals with family and friends over the holiday season come with a guarantee of weight gain? Perhaps, says scientific research. A review of 42 studies by researchers from the University of Birmingham has concluded that dining with others means we eat far more than when we dine alone. This is probably because mealtimes last longer, it’s more acceptable to overeat when everyone is doing the same, and there’s usually an abundance of food.
