THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME

Allan Bryce and James Whittington on your favourite TV shows and movie franchises…

A MISTY MOON TRIBUTE TO TONY -AND MORE

As always our pals at the Misty Moon Film Society have some great events lined up this year, the first of which takes place at the Phoenix Theatre Arts Club on March 10th at 8.30PM. This event was originally entitled Misty Moon Presents Tony Slattery Resuscitated.

Sadly, as I am sure most of you know, Tony passed away from a heart attack on January 14th at the young age of 65. Misty Moon had been responsible for his successful return to The Phoenix Arts Club, and the March event was to have been a rare discussion show with his good friend, Erica Lear, charting the highs and lows of his life and career

The plan has changed now of course and the evening will now unfold as a memorial tribute with a lot of Tony’s friends in attendance including Stephen Fry. It’s sure to be a memorable night.

Misty Moon’s other favourite venue is The Cinema Museum in Kennington and you can join them for the long-awaited Minder Reunion 2 on Saturday 22nd February. Infinity Ed Allan Bryce will be hosting an event that could be so good for you, with Gary Webster, George Sweeney and Karl Howman joining some other cast members for what could be a very nice little earner for the Misty Moon gang.

Then on May 25th at 7PM you can return to The Cinema Museum to hear George Layton tell fibs and stories! George is probably best known as a theatre, film and TV actor: The Doctor in the House/ Doctor In Charge/ Doctor at Large series (1969-91); It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum (197475); Minder (1979-82); The Sweeney (1975); EastEnders (2011-12); Fagin in Oliver!; Mr Cellophane in Chicago.

He has also had a successful writing career, having created two awardwinning television series, Don’t Wait Up (six series, 1984-90) starring Nigel Havers and Executive Stress (three series, 1986-88) starring Penelope Keith. George also wrote many of the various “Doctor” series, as well as My Brother’s Keeper (1975-76), Robin’s Nest (1979-81), and early shows for On The Buses (1972-73).
