The storm cloud

In celebration of the 200th birthday of the Victorian artist, John Ruskin, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery in Kendal will be exploring his relationship with the landscapes of J M W Turner. The exhibition brings together works from York Art Gallery (where the exhibition is on show until 23 June) and Abbot Hall Art Gallery, works from national and regional collections, as well as new commissions by contemporary artist, Emma Stibbon, whose travels to Chamonix, retracing Ruskin’s footsteps, reveal changs to the glaciers around Mont Blanc. New research uncovers Ruskin’s response to Turner’s vision as well as themes such as climate change.
