If you install from the distro repository using a native packaging system, that system should be able to retrieve the dependencies for you. If you are manually installing from an archive such as an RPM or DEB, you may have to go on a hunt to track down the needed dependencies, and this can be complicated. If you want to add something outside of the repository system (such as a newer version of a component), you can run into brick walls when it can’t be done.
