Once home to the eccentric Queen Christina of Sweden, the 18th-century Palazzo Corsini was designed in grand Versailles style, and houses artworks including Caravaggio’s San Giovanni Battista (St John the Baptist), Guido Reni’s Salome con la Testa di San Giovanni Battista (Salome with the Head of St John the Baptist), and Fra’ Angelico’s Corsini Triptych.

Sandwiched between the Forum and the Circo Massimo, the Palatine (Palatine Hill) is one of Rome’s most spectacular sights, a beautiful, atmospheric area oftowering pinetrees, majestic ruins and unforgettable views. This is where Romulus supposedly founded the city, and where Rome’s emperors lived in palatial luxury.
