I had been sketching all morning among the temple grounds of Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom when the heat and humidity got too much and I decided to head back to my hotel. As I was leaving the temples, I came across these parked tuk-tuks; the drivers were having a post-lunch siesta close by. After looking at grand architecture and ruins for several hours, this quiet scene was a refreshing change and a reminder that I like my sketchbook to capture both the big and small moments that reflect my travel experience. What struck me was that even busy and noisy tuk-tuks and their garrulous drivers need to take a break from the stupor of the day. As someone who lives in the United States but grew up in India, where the autorickshaw is a beloved way of getting around, I miss this form of transport and enjoyed spending 10 minutes drawing them.
