David Bowie’s self-tided debut was a commercial and critical failure, and sold very few copies in comparison to his later work. The two most widely known variants are the original 14-track stereo and mono issues that were released in the UK in June 1967 on the Deram label.
The two variants are mostly recognisable by the stereo and mono text and the catalogue numbers on the back [SML1007 for stereo, DML1007 for mono]. The labels are in keeping with the style found on nearly all Deram releases from the period, with a red and white design for stereo and light brown and white for mono, with the relevant matrix number inverted above the catalogue number on the right-hand side of the label.
