Can I use my eGPU with my M1 MacBook Air?
> No external GPUs can be used with Apple’s new Silicon Macs, because they lack the key driver to enable them. As these first models are at the lower end, Apple may offer support in future releases. In any case, their Metal acceleration is already fast without extra help.
Which side should I connect the power adapter?
> On portable Macs with USB-C ports, connecting both the charging lead and other devices to the ports on the left causes local warming, as a result of which the Mac can slow to reduce heat generation. If you use both ports on one side, it’s best to make that the right if possible.
Starting up in Recovery Mode should offer the current version of macOS to install, but this has broken on some iMacs.
