IT’S BEEN A busy time for Apple, with a great deal of change going on for the company as a whole. The most major of these changes is the total abolishment of the Lightning port on its products, in favor of the EU–mandated USB–C port, which is considered to be the universal charging system worldwide. This is both good news and bad news for consumers. Good that it means you have less cables to carry around, not to mention the improvement in charging and data transfer speeds that USB–C brings. But bad because it means that millions of accessories and cables will become redundant when you purchase a new iPhone 15 (review on page 66), and if you are considering upgrading to a new iPhone, you’ll need to replace your Lightning wall power adapters for USB–C ones. More stuff, more cost.
