> APPLE RESISTS UK DATA DEMAND
As we reported in
Mac|L ifelast issue, the British government has demanded access to all data stored in the cloud by any user using Apple’s Advanced Data Protection (ADP). Instead of complying, Apple has withdrawn the option of ADP for new UK users, and is also reportedly challenging the demand in the UK courts. Civil liberties organizations and a group of US lawmakers from both sides of the House have asked the UK’s Investigatory Powers Tribunal “in the public interest” not to hold the hearings in secret as usual, but in open court.
