The SK Hynix Platinum P41 earned our admiration in late 2022, so hopes were high for this respin using the more consumer-facing Solidigm brand. We weren’t disappointed. This is a very high-spec PCIe 4 drive, with SK Hynix’s excellent Aries controller chip and 2GB of DRAM cache. It’s very much up there with the SK Hynix Platinum P41 and other leading Gen 4 drives, including the WD Black SN850X and Samsung 990 Pro. But it’s cheaper than the P41, and comes with extra software.
