French artist Saype calls his spectacular painting, viewed from above on September 17, a “message of hope” for refugees. The 1.2-acre image shows a girl launching an origami boat into Lake Geneva and aims to support SOS Méditerranée, whose rescue operations in the Central Mediterranean have saved nearly 30,000 migrants. A pioneer of grass painting, Saype airbrushed the image with biodegradable colors. The girl’s name, he says, is “Future.”
