LOCHABER charities are being invited to apply for a cash boost from a gift shop owner.
Maria Wilson took over the running of the gift shop aboard the Jacobite steam train last year. The steam train, which runs from Fort William to Mallaig will operate from April to December this year and Maria plans to run a daily fund-raising raffle for passengers. She said: ‘I took over the running of the Jacobite gift shop last year from a gentleman who runs Glenfinnan museum. He carried out raffles and donated small amounts to numerous charities, however, I stopped it last year because, with just taking the business over, I wanted to find my feet before I carried it on. I decided rather than donating small amounts to lots of charities, I would donate a lump sum instead and continue this every year. I intend to select the charity by the end of March and the donation will be made by the end of December. I’m hoping I get a good few applicants. I‘ve already had some come through and am excited I can maybe help make a small difference to Lochaber.’
If you know or run a charity that you think would benefit from a donation email Jacobitecatering@gmail.com giving details of the charity and how this donation would help.
