A SCHOOL has received an ‘inspirational’ award in recognition of its pupils completing 3,000 hours of volunteering.
Kinlochleven High School fourth-year pupils Morgan Nicolson, Holly MacKenzie and Ian MacDonald with their
Get Set for Community Action was launched to empower young people aged 14 to 19 to make a difference in their local communities in the run-up to, and during, the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kinlochleven High School was one of just 100 secondary schools across the UK selected to take part in this national project and last week it received a plaque and a commemorative book in recognition of its outstanding effort. Mrs Machin, head teacher, said: ‘As a very small school, with a roll of only 145 pupils, to accumulate 3,000 hours of volunteering in six months was amazing. We thought we had already been rewarded through the visit of double Olympian Craig Benson earlier in the year.’
