Head Chef Robert McKillop joined Loch Leven Hotel earlier in 2016 to strengthen our small team and has developed our kitchen brigade in terms of skill and direction. Leading by example and with an approachable coaching style he has an insightful knowledge of all things food that he has built up during his career. He exudes a true passion for local produce which has helped us to further develop our network of local suppliers. Robert started his career as an apprentice at Fairmont’s Chateau Lake Louise in Canada and then transitioned to their Canadian sister hotel the Banff Springs Hotel. With further training in the European hospitality destinations of Switzerland, Germany and Austria, Robert decided that he would cross the Channel to pursue his carreer working in Ireland ,England and the Channel Islands. This definitely paid off as although he is classically trained he has gained a great deal of experience in modern cuisine especially at Rosette level where he has built his reputation. He would describe his style as Modern European but to quote our great chef “I really enjoy cooking the awesome produce that Scotland has to offer” and that is certainly something that is evident in his menus.
