News that a specialist plant engineering firm that employs eight people will close in September after being evicted from its yard in North Connel prompted an angry reaction.
Kenny Pearson blasted: ‘This is absolutely shocking, why would you buy a house next to a working coal yard/ HGV firm that has been there for years, then complain about the noise! Shame on you!!’
Fiona Bennett wrote: ‘This is appalling. Young businesses should be supported and encouraged. Given the uncertainty of our country’s future just now you’d think they’d be going out of their way to support this enterprising company. The council has made a very poor decision here indeed. They should be ashamed of themselves putting people that have worked so hard out of business and out of work.’
