Was deferred for a second time on a Fort William man for a criminal justice social work report to be prepared.
John Gillespie, 61, of High Street, Fort William, had pleaded guilty earlier by letter to driving a car on December 1, 2017, on the A830 road at Lochy Bridge with a blood alcohol level of 234mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 50mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Sentencing had been deferred for a personal appearance at court last week.
Defence agent Hamish Melrose said his client, who worked as a labourer in Inverness, had never appeared in court previously. However, Sheriff Eilidh Mac- Donald decided to defer sentence again so a criminal justice social work report could be prepared after describing the almost five times the limit alcohol reading as ‘exceedingly high’.
