VIEW FROM THE WATER

This summer I visited Sweden to take part in Vidösternsimmet, a long swim in one of the many thousands of lakes in the country. We travelled by road, crossing Holland, Northern Germany and Denmark. We stopped at swimming spots along the way, several times finding beautiful places completely by chance. It was delightful, but left me feeling a little envious about the difference in attitudes to outdoor swimming in these countries compared to back home.
