Our cover quilt is one reason why I need to start a new project. Blue Sky over Ohio is a quilt I finished just the other week. I love this block. Carrying on the cool blue theme we have Let Go of the Blues, a Betty Croke special. More intricate piecing in Home Grown. I love this look of this quilt, a bit like an old embroidery sampler. If you want a smaller project then the Folk Garden Pouch is a lovely project from new contributor, Emily Levey, while the redwork centre of the Sweetheart Cottage Cushion is the ideal small project to take away with you if travelling. We’ve reached part 5 of the Tulips Quilt and make the delightful Dutch scene at the bottom of the quilt.
Some really wonderful quilts for you to drool over in the written features this month. Helen reviews Quilts UK while former editor, Judi Mendelssohn, shows us the quilts on display at London Calling. We also take a look at a contemporary quilt collection, A Matter of Time, which will be on display at the Festival of Quilts in August. And in a new, occasional series tying in the history of a traditional block with a quilt project, Sheilah Daughtree takes a look at the Ohio Star block in Exploring Stars. We find out more about the Thames Valley Contemporary Textile Group in Introducing and also discover the First and Last quilts by Roz Johnson.
