Against a William Morris backdrop stand two comfortable armchairs - one given by a friend and now covered with Indian embroideries, and a yellow velvet chair recently bought by Dave from Uneeka in Truro, bringing a dash of gold into the colourful mix. Lizzie acquired the carpet when the William Morris Gallery was being refurbished. Millhouse Carpets adapted it for the staircase and living room here. The corner cupboard is from local auction house David Lay. The Alison Bernal painting next to it was commissioned by Lizzie for Dave’s 40th birthday. It is an interior scene from their old house in London

Arts and crafts play a huge role in the lives of Lizzie Houghton and Dave Puddifoot, so when they left their London home of 40 years for the quiet of Penzance, it was inevitable that their new home would a be a creative kind of place.
William Morris designs feature in almost every room, along with shades of Lizzie’s favourite colour, green, piles of her hand-embroidered cushions and homemade rag rugs, and Dave’s distinctive original paintings and sculptures.
