Period properties make the most special and uniquely beautiful homes. Of course, I don’t need to tell you that, but every month I feel such joy when I see the finished layouts of our featured readers’ houses. I loved Ambrice Miller’s 17th-century home in Suffolk (page 36) the moment I saw it, and when I read the story behind the project, I was in awe. With husband Ben, Ambrice has carried out an impressively hands-on renovation to a former malt master’s house, which serves as the ideal backdrop to her fabulous art collection. One of the things that impressed me most about Ambrice and Ben is their ingenuity – they weren’t afraid of DIY, tackling projects one by one. When a classic bespoke kitchen was out of budget, the creative couple sourced secondhand pieces, and upcycled furniture to create an eclectic look – and it’s all the better for it.
