TIRED of having their annual general meetings disrupted by environmentalists, oil giant Shell has a clever new wheeze: next week’s AGM will be held at Heathrow airport, where protests have been effectively banned.
In 2023, Shell’s AGM made national news when it was commandeered by carbon emissions protesters who gained entry to the London’s Docklands venue by buying a single share in the firm. But anyone trying this at the Sofitel Hotel in Heathrow’s Terminal 5 on 20 May is taking quite a risk.
