Fragments of self

Beauty can be found in breakage, discovers Caro Giles, as she learns to embrace the perfectly imperfect…

At the turn of the year, something shifted inside me. An aspect of my life that had made me fearful and small for so long, suddenly stopped feeling intimidating. I’ve tried to pinpoint the catalyst for this welcome change, but I think it was due to a series of incremental actions. Maybe it was writing a book, or moving house. Perhaps it was the therapy or endless pounding of beaches. Probably it was a mixture of all of these things – and time.

It is annoyingly true that some things just take time to resolve. For someone like me, who is impatient and requires an answer to everything now, it can be hard to accept that things can’t always be resolved straightaway. Sometimes, they can’t be resolved at all.
