We still have Christmas to come, but the publishing industry decrees that January issues go on sale around now. So, welcome to the new year!
Despite the popular narrative that January is a bit miserable, we actually quite like it. Time seems to slow down, leaving room to reflect, enjoy the moment and ( whisper it) simply do nothing. Daydreaming, wandering or just pottering around the house are highly under-rated. There’s no need to plan every weekend or be (or appear to be) frantically ‘busy.’ There’s almost a tyranny around filling time, but as it’s so precious, perhaps holding it as rare and fragile is a better way to treat it?
This slowing down and breathing out is just the feeling we get when stepping into the pages of our cover feature – Christine Hærra’s beautiful Norwegian home. Even in the cold, it’s so warm, peaceful and, indeed, precious. With a completely different aesthetic, Violet May’s Edwardian home is shiny and glamorous, but no less welcoming.
