HOT FIVE #1
FOLD ON MY HEART
HP Spectre Fold
Guinness World Records is home to some fairly niche achievements. For example, earlier this year, Kimberly Winter’s 107.3dB burp set anew record for the loudest by awoman – that’s noisier than an electric drill. Well, soon you might see another, less gassy new entry: HP’s Spectre Fold, as the world’s smallest and thinnest 17in foldable PC.
There’s some pretty serious power packed into its 8.5mm chassis too: a 12th-gen Intel Core i7-1250U processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It’s also a real shapeshifter. Fully unfurled you can use it as a giant tablet; a built-in kickstand turns it into amakeshift desktop; and if you fold it halfway with the bundled keyboard over the bottom half of the touchscreen, it becomes a 12.3in laptop.
It’s not quite a fourth way, but if you then slide the QWERTY towards you to reveal a flat slice of extra OLED it’ll increase your multitasking options, plus with Windows 11 Home on board it’ll run all the full-fat apps and software you throw at it. The one big drawback? That five-grand price is surely a world record in itself.
