OUR BRILLIANT RUIN

Designer: Justin Achilli, Pam Punzalan & Rachel J. Wilkinson | Publisher: Studio Hermitage

For any new or upcoming RPG, the very success of the title can be initially judged by its concept. With so many variations on the roleplaying game formula released across the years, it seems as if originality is in short supply. However, Our Brilliant Ruin taps into a set of themes that haven’t been conveyed quite in this way before.

Players are introduced to the concept of The Ruin, a force that has caused catastrophe and chaos on Earth, during a period of glamour and great riches. The RPG thus explores what happens to humanity, when the duality of prosperity and the decomposition of society are put at odds with one another. The world seems to be collapsing around the player and yet many characters in Our Brilliant Ruin are attempting to cling on to the materialistic things that bring them both joy and seemingly a higher class standing.
