As you might expect, Skoda’s two main plants are in the Czech Republic. The Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny factories build more than 900,000 cars a year, and Skoda is one of the country’s largest employers, accounting for around nine per cent of Czech exports. Skodas are also built in Slovakia, India, Russia, Ukraine and China, mostly in VW-owned plants. In 2019 the company announced it was looking to build a new European factory to meet demand. In terms of sales, 2020 was a bad year for everyone, and Skoda posted a 19.1 per cent drop but still managed its seventh year in a row of shifting over a million models.
