N early half a century from now, Earth is devastated by climate change and all plants are extinct. But then the remaining humans receive a message from the year 2474 to “send Ethan Whyte”, a lowly tunnel worker with a dying wife (played by Kodi Smit-McPhee and Sana’a Shaik). What ensues is essentially a dumbeddown version of 12 Monkeys that is overstretched, exposition heavy and repetitive. There is some decent B-movie fun to be had and a few cool ideas, but by the 100-minute mark your patience will have worn thin.
