Blues-rock was in the air back at the turn of the millennium, and Alan Sparhawk’s quartet provided adeliciously raw, unhinged example. Calling himself “Chicken-Bone” George, he led the tumult on the likes of “Smokestack Lightnin’” and a lumbering eight-minute version of The Fall’s “My New House”.
