Edward Jones took off from pole position as he had beat the Finnish driver, Laiho by 11-thousandths millesimals in the qualifying rounds. Laiho had beat the British driver Ed Brand by only 9-thousandths, Brand had played a major role in the Euro Challenge. Six heats were held on Thursday and Friday, with Ed Brand going on to win them all and earn himself a spot in pole position in the pre-final. Coming in after Brand was the Japanese driver, Ukyo Sasahara, who came in at second place three times in the heats. Lined up in the second row were Laiho and Jones, while Talvar, from Estonia, who also participated in the Euro Challenge, was in the third row with the British driver Matthew Parry. The only Italian in the category, Filippo Laghi, came in at 53rd and did therefore not qualify for the finals. The pre-final race was a tussle between three drivers, in which it was already clear in the first leg of the race that Brand, Sasahara and Parry had more of a fighting chance at winning. The Japanese driver took off, leaving his competition in the dust, yet Brand swept in and took the lead in the first part of the race. Yet it was Parry to leave a lasting impression as he raced forward and made his way in front of Sasahara, to then overtake Brand on the 7th lap, securing himself a spot in the pre-final. The final seemed to follow a script with the three main players giving it their all. From the get-go, which saw no accidents this time, Brand was the fastest, with Sasahara and Parry trailing behind. Brand seemed to have more of a chance and took full advantage of this by overtaking the Japanese driver. Meanwhile Parry fell behind at the start of the race. The laps continued on without much change in position for those in the front, yet those trailing behind did see a bit of change. However in the last two laps Sasahara gained on his rivals and came through to claim his well-deserved title. The English driver took a hit and Parry passed him up to finish in second place. Brand had to settle with the last step on the podium.
