With a bit of luck, if you have been reading this issue in an even vaguely front-toback kind of way, your appetite for all things vinyl will by now have been well and truly whetted/revived/increased (delete as appropriate). That being the case, you should be well placed to devour our second record-player round-up – and that’s good news, because this time we venture into premium turntable territory, where quality in all its forms takes a quantum leap forward.
Most ‘affordable’ turntables do the job well enough (see p30), but for players costing between £1000 and £2000, manufacturers have the budget to invest in more advanced design, higher-grade materials and improved build quality, and so produce equipment that delivers superior sound. They are also better able to turn their attention to a deck’s appearance – and who doesn’t want their kit to look good?
