Since joining Women’s Running, I’ve read about – and chatted to – many terrifically inspiring women. From those who’ve battled tremendous adversity, to those who’ve achieved incredible sporting feats they hadn’t previously believed possible – and even helped others do the same. Take this month’s cover star, Chrissie Wellington. Not only is she a four-time World Ironman Champion, but she does amazing work helping to break down barriers to participation in sport (read her story on page 10). In this issue you’ll also meet Zamzam, Mahsa and Arzoo, three utterly courageous and inspiring women who have put everything on the line so that they – and others – can be granted access to exercise (read more on page 70).
I feel truly privileged to be able to call this my first issue as editor of Women’s Running. It’s reading about such women which inspired me to take on challenges I once thought inconceivable – albeit challenges far more modest. I’m talking running my first 10K (a miracle in its own right considering my school PE reports!). Nonetheless, these women show us that no running goal is off limits and I hope to continue sharing this message with you in every issue of WR.
