An auction record for Grayson Perry’s (b.1960) Britain is Best, (above) a limited edition coloured embroidery depicting five loyalists from East Belfast, was set at Phillips (25% buyer’s premium) in London on September 10.
The work on linen (also featuring glass beads and sequins) measuring 3ft 11in (1.2m) high was from an edition of 20 (plus four artist’s proofs) published by The Paragon Press in 2014. It came from a UK vendor and retained the original specified frame as well as its certificate of authenticity.
