CLIMBERS and walkers have been warned to look out for ticks during their outdoor adventures.
With the weather turning warm thoughts turn to more outdoor pursuits but the Mountaineering Council of Scotland say ticks are back in time for the summer.
Mountain safety adviser Heather Morning said: ‘Last weekend we were climbing at Duntelchaig, near Loch Ness. At home later, we noticed several ticks on our feet and since then have found several latched onto our bodies even though we had checked ourselves when we got home.’ Ticks can carry Lyme disease which is identifiable by a distinctive target shaped bite.
