Lord-Lieutenant Duncan retires

The Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, John L Duncan CVO, QPM, has retired after 11 years in post.

Born October 15, 1942, in Buckie, Banffshire, he retired on his 75th birthday last Sunday. He lives in Stewarton with his wife Jess and has a grown-up son and two daughters and has, over the years, been a regular visitor to Arran.

He left Buckie High School in 1957 and was an apprentice engineer with a local firm before beginning his long police career.
