A cross-party letter is urging the UK government to introduce a price cap on energy prices saying that users, including 1,246 on Arran, are being overcharged, A total of 193 MPs, including North Ayrshire and Arran MP Patricia Gibson, have joined forces in urging the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, (Ofgem) to protect the interests of consumers who are being ‘ripped off’ to the tune of £1,400 million a year.
Mrs Gibson said: ‘It is a disgrace that on Arran 1,246 households are overpaying for energy by £291,500 per year.
