MO FARAH’S charity has been shut down after it lost more than £200,000 in two years.
The Mo Farah Foundation was set up in 2011 by the athlete and his wife, Tania, to help fight poverty in Africa. It raised more than £900,000 in 2013, the year after Farah won double gold at London 2012, but has since lost money and now has about £200,000 compared with £604,000 three years ago.
A spokeswoman for the MFF said: “Mo and Tania are immensely proud of what the foundation has achieved — raising approximately £1 million and delivering some life-changing projects. In Africa, the foundation built 50 water wells and established three medical clinics for mothers and new-born babies which have treated over 10,000 families.”
