I think all carp anglers love this time of the year more than any other. The clocks have gone forward, the nights are getting significantly lighter for longer, the buds are on the trees and the birds are building their nests.
Common sense tells us that the carp are on the feed at last. Not that this winter has proved to be a problem to the angler prepared to accept a soaking if he wished to continue fishing throughout. In fact this is the first year that I can ever remember that the lakes did not freeze over at all. Not even a single night with a lid on – remarkable!
