John Walker helped Great Britain’s Paralympic archery team to the top of the medal table in Rio earlier this year, picking up two gold medals, individually and as part of the W1 mixed team alongside Jo Frith. It represented something akin to coming full circle for him, as he reveals it was watching the London games that inspired him to take up the sport in the first place. “I had a pretty bad accident in 2011; I got knocked off my motorbike.” He was hoping to go back to work, but the news that he wouldn’t be able to return put a damper on the plans he’d had for the future. That was, until he saw some Paralympic archery in the summer of 2012.
