This chic barn conversion was a labour of love for the owners, and is now a haven for holidaymakers
Set in pretty and tranquil countryside surroundings, close to Hereford, Fred’s Shed is an idyllic single-storey barn conversion created by Paul and Sarah-Jayne Jacobs. The couple named the barn – which adjoins their home – after a feral cat that had lived there; he soon became loving and tame. The bolthole is surrounded by green landscapes and far-reaching views, and has been refurbished into a wonderful and characterful abode. Originally, the idea was to convert the barn into an annex for Sarah-Jayne’s mum, but plans changed and the couple toyed with the ide of creating a long-term rental, before ultimately deciding on using it as a holiday let – which can be booked through Sykes Cottages. “At the time, May 2021, staycations were a booming business so this choice made sense,” says Paul.
