I am feeling incredibly deflated after a mix up with our community infrastructure levy (CIL) exemption. Our application to exclude our self-build was granted. As required, we sent off Form 6 to our local authority (LA) to inform them that work was about to commence. However, several days later, we received a letter from our LA requesting the very same form. Despite us initially being granted exemption and giving notice of work getting underway, the council is now insisting that we pay £19,000 as they never received the notification. Our bridging loan has yet to come through and we have to make the first stage payment to our builder. We simply don’t have that kind of money. This seems incredibly unfair to us.
