Is Ringwood the new hotbed of the UK carp scene? With three forties from the area in this week’s issue it is hard to argue the contrary! Top of the tree was John Whitaker who banked the area’s most wanted carp, Sykes’ Fish, at 44lb 14oz from Half Pit. Also on a Ringwood AA water, Matthew Lockett banked Small Boy’s Hand at 40lb 15oz from Northfields. The third and final Ringwood forty fell to young Kai Richards, who banked a 40½lb PB common from his local syndicate water. Elsewhere, Graham Stevens banked a 43lb 14oz common from Frimley Pit 3 and in-form Perry Alabaster rounded off his winter campaign on Elphicks’ North Lake with a 42lb 14oz ghostie.
Darren Willeatts reveals some of his best tips for your early spring campaign, to try and help you bag an early season whacker. Small day-ticket fisheries are perfect for winter angling, and Iain Macmillan reveals just how he approaches these waters. Spotted Fin’s Smokey Jack range is put under the spotlight and we review the new Nash Claw hooks and the Fortis × Snugpack FJ6.
We have over £250 worth of Rod Hutchinson’s new bait up for grabs. Plus, the monthly RidgeMonkey junior and Sticky winners are revealed.
