The original lineup of Ultravox – or Ultravox! as they originally styled themselves – had released three critically-acclaimed but commercially underwhelming albums by the time singer John Foxx left in 1979. So, when Midge Ure stepped up to the mic few could have foreseen quite how dramatically their fortunes would change. While LP number three, Systems Of Romance, failed to even chart, its Midge Urefronted follow-up would be certifi ed platinum and peak at No.3 in the UK Albums Chart.
