‘Winter Fuel Payment’ text

Computeractive has warned us recently that scammers will be trying to trick us with messages about claiming the Winter Fuel Payment. I got a strange text from something called the Subsidy Payment Centre reminding me I hadn’t applied for my £300. It was sent to a “group chat” with eight other people, though I had no idea who they were. I didn’t recognise the numbers. The link in the message began with grco.de, which is a giveaway – ‘.de’ is a German suffix. The message ended with ‘The Benefit Delivery Centre wishes you all the best’. How ludicrous!
