A rare survivor from a relatively low volume of production. Regrettably missing it’s Bosch injection pump, this DIX-4ES supercharged four was a small displacement powerhouse in it’s era. You can see the blower off the back of the engine and it’s driven via chain by the back of the cam. Beyond some basic specs, we could not find much on this engine. It displaced 188 cubic inches from a 3.875 x 4-inch bore and stroke. It was rated at 95 horsepower at 3000 rpm. The naturally aspirated DIX-4D, which had a 3.625 x 4-inch bore and stroke made 57 horses from 166 cubic inches. When the E-bore DIX line debuted, it came NA or supercharged, with a 20 horsepower difference between them.
