Leica Lux smartphone app

New app for iOS 17.1 or later will turn your iPhone into a Leica

Aiming to bring the uniqueness of a Leica camera to a smartphone, the Leica Lux app enables iPhone users to experience the brand’s lenses and distinctive Leica looks on their handsets. The app’s ‘Aperture Mode’ uses Leica’s image engine alongside machine learning to replicate the rendering, bokeh and other characteristics exhibited by Leica lenses like the Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 Asph and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 Asph. ‘Aperture Mode’ appears similar to an iPhone’s native portrait mode, but with a Leica twist. The Leica Lux app applies Leica’s distinctive and celebrated colour science to iPhone cameras. Choose Leica Standard, Leica Classic, Leica Contemporary and Leica Black-and-White for your iPhone shots and all of them will display colours and contrast differently than that of a native iPhone camera. With the app’s Manual Mode enabling control over aspects like aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation, users can generate photos that realise their creative vision. While the app is free to download, the Leica Lux Pro subscription offers up to 11 Leica Looks and five Leica lenses for £6.99/$6.99 per month. apps.apple.com; free
