CRUISING ISN’T JUST A PURSUIT ENJOYED BY GAY MEN, DISCOVERS DEBS BAIRD
When I was asked whether I wanted to go cruising, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean, I thought cruising was just for gay men?
My “jewels of the Rhine” cruise (emeraldwaterways.co.uk/rivers/rhine) begins in Amsterdam (fly here from many destinations UK-wide, included in your price). After collecting my luggage, I’m met by my driver for a short transfer to the ship. I must say, the itinerary looks pretty tasty: embarking in Amsterdam then heading upstream towards Basel, Switzerland over eight days, hitting an impressive four countries along the way.
On this occasion, I’m travelling solo, and while I’m not adverse to a bit of alone time on holiday, I’d half expected the clientele to be of a certain, shall we say, type? Ok, ok, I’ll admit, I’d made assumptions, and you know what they say about assumptions?
