While often overlooked in favour of nearby Manchester or Leeds, the “southernmost tip of the northern lands” – cue heated debate – with its industrial roots, jam-packed calendar of cultural events and hella beautiful surroundings has an overly humble charm all of its own. Ok, so it’s probably not going to be crowned “UK’s Queerest City” anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t LGBTQ-friendly stuff going on…

SHEFEST
5 – 11 March, various venues
Celebrating International Women’s Day, SheFest (@shefestsheff) features a range of inclusive celebrations and explorations. Open to all, this fringe fest is about coming together to learn, discuss, celebrate and have fun! Covering everything from activism, sexual harassment and self-care, to poetry, belly dancing, and even free workshops, SheFest Saturday is the main event and takes place on 10 March.
