KYLIE MINOGUE – KYLIE CHRISTMAS
It’s a queer time in our Kylie’s career at the moment. While she’s been busy dallying with a multitude of new collaborators (Giorgio Moroder and Garibay) she still hasn’t managed to score a proper pop hit to propel her back into the charts. After the spectacular success of 2012’s sumptuous and slick The Abbey Road Sessions, Kylie flailed miserably with 2014’s Sia-produced Kiss Me Once pop album. So while a Christmas album might keep the fans happy (especially with six originals), what’s going to happen when January comes around? For now let’s just unwrap this festive cracker which features not only sister Dannii, but also Frank Sinatra (posthumously, obviously) and comedian/actor James Corde on a version of Yazoo’s 80s classic Only You (how this qualifies as a Christmas song is not clear). We suggest Ms Minogue reunite with ex-manager Terry Blamey and get her career back on track with some cracking good pop songs (Cathy Dennis, who wrote Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, come on down).
