DNA: What inspired you to get into politics?
Chansey Paech: For me, getting involve was very natural. My family have always been involved in what I call “black politics” – board membership of the local grassroots community organisations. My grandparents were big supporters of trade unions and the Labor movement. I saw the difference that Labor governments brought to the rest of the community when they were in power. I witnessed first hand the work Labor has done to improve living conditions for my people, and for all people living in the country.
